Being a health coach and a student of nutrition, I’ve seen how diets and viral nutrition trends affect people’s bodies and mental health.
That’s why I’ve created my coaching programs centered on joy-based eating.
What is Joy-Based Eating?
This is going to seem like a detour, but bear with me for a second. I had a really messed-up relationship with money. I took the approach of burying my head in the sand and spending mindlessly—every attempt at a budget felt too restrictive and didn’t fix my lack of foundation when it came to managing my finances. Then I came across a financial coach/advisor/guru who takes a joy-based approach to help her clients create a budget that they can stick to. She asks her clients to identify the spending that truly brings joy and the line items that move her clients towards their goals, and everything else gets scrutinized. The key is to NOT touch the things that bring joy and instead just incorporate more of the practices that move her clients towards their goals.
Joy-based eating takes that concept and applies it to your eating habits! In all of my health coaching programs, we’ll analyze what foods bring you joy and what foods nourish you, while “crowding out” food that does neither. We’ll start with a food log where you track what you eat. Then you will identify the food experiences that brought joy and the things you ate to nourish. We won’t touch the things that are bringing you joy! Instead, we’ll look at the rest to determine what we might want to “crowd out” with more nourishing food. My programs all focus on adding foods that nourish you without taking away the food that brings you joy. No more restrictive meal plans that suck all the joy out of your eating experiences!
The Joy-Based Theme Runs Throughout All of My Programs.
The joy-based theme does not stop at eating. My health coaching programs dig deep into other ways that you are feeding yourself that have nothing to do with food, like movement, sleep, self-care, etc. — all with a focus on doing things that feel joyful and abundant rather than restrictive and shrouded in should-shame.
Joy-Based Living offers 3 health coaching programs for you to choose from based on where you are in your health journey and what your needs are. I also offer 1-1customized nutrition consulting that gets into the nitty-gritty of your nutrition while still ensuring that you hold onto the food experiences that bring you joy.
